New StreetSpark Mural by Father & Son Duo

Changing the World through Art, One Kid at a Time

StreetSpark Mural by Brent & Lavelle Billingsley

Fourteen StreetSpark murals have successfully been painted since the summer of 2016. StreetSpark is a public art program in partnership with the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, the City of Hamilton and and the Hamilton Community Foundation. In the Summer of 2021, StreetSpark is adding four new designs to their mural tour. The first of these designs is a meaningful work of art, born from a collaboration between a father and his 11 year-old son.

The Artists: Father & Son

This mural entitled Changing the World through Art, One Kid at a Time, will be painted on a utility box located at the corner of Main and B Streets in Hamilton. This design is a collaboration between a local father and son, Brent and Lavelle Billingsley.

Artists Brent & Lavelle Billingsley

Brent created a greyscale portrait of his son, backed by his son’s colorful, abstract artwork. They both live and create together in the Hamilton community. Lavelle's abstract work all began during summer art classes at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts. Brent has also done murals all over the region, including at The Fringe Coffee House. Check out his Instagram page to see more of their work.

Their StreetSpark mural design aims to bring happiness to the tens of thousands of people who drive through the busy Hamilton intersection. They've taken a plain utility box and have turned it into a vibrant, eye-catching piece of art. See the progress below!
